Bad Ischl
Bad Ischl lies 50km east of Salzburg among the stunning lakes and mountain peaks of the Salzkammergut. The area is known as the lake district of Austria and the town is surrounded by picturesque, unspoilt and ancient villages. We are within easy reach of the airports at Salzburg and Linz, and with regular flights from many well established airlines the area is easily accessible from UK and mainland Europe.
Bad Ischl is a renowned spa town where the traditional and modern combine to make a fascinating place to visit. The EurothermResort-Bad Ischl was enlarged and refurbished in 2007 and offers a modern spa with pools and fitness facilities, a full range of therapeutic massages and beauty treatments as well as the traditional Bad Ischl salt treatments.
The town has a past linked to Kaiser Franz Joseph who came to stay at the Kaiservilla in the town every summer for over 80 years. Each summer the town celebrates his the birthday with an open air festival, known as the Kaiserfest, in the streets of the town.
Each summer the town is host to the Lehar Festival of Operetta named after the renowned composer Franz Lehar who made his summer residence here for many years.
The town is set at the foot of Katrin mountain which offers many good walking routes around the area and in winter there is excellent skiing at Katrinalm where there are 8 km of intermediate and advanced skiing, a beginners area including a ‘magic carpet’ and a well run ski school and ski hire.
The town and its surrounding area offer so much to visitors with water sports on the nearby lakes, golf, cycling, walking and skiing to name but a few. Alternatively you may wish to come and relax in the clear mountain air and just unwind and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
With low cost airlines offering regular services to both Salzburg and Linz airports we are easily accessible and, although the public transport system is excellent, we recommend that you hire a car to get the most from your visit.
Bad Ischl is a popular year round destination where there is always plenty to see and do no matter what season you choose to visit.
